With more than 30 years of experience in tile and masonry work, Franz Meyer of Artistic Tile and Masonry will help you design a project and craft it to your exacting standards.
What is "Guild-Trained"?
In Germany, students are trained for corporate or vocational trade/crafts professions. For apprentice masons and tile setters, the Federal Ministry for Education and Science and state governments prescribe 320 hours of instruction at the part-time vocational school in the first year.
In their second year, apprentices begin their specialty work in masonry. They spend 280 hours in classroom instruction at the part-time vocational school. After two years of classroom work and on-the-job training, apprentices are required to take a qualifying examination involving both a skills test and a written test before they proceed to their final year of training.
After completing three years of vocational training, masonry apprentices must take a final examination administered by the Chamber for the Crafts and Trades. Trainees spend 4 additional years as a journeyman to an experienced master mason.

This letter is to recommend Franz Meyer for any type of tile or fireplace surround work you can imagine.
Franz worked on our house in Arlington, starting in 2007. The first job was to build a huge shower stall with seat for the master bath. Next, he tiled our entire first floor. A few years later, he built a raised fireplace hearth with beautiful granite.
The next project he worked on was a tub surround in the second floor hall bathroom, and he also redid the floors.
More than once Franz solved a huge construction problem with ease. His work area is very clean-which is extremely important to me.
I am very satisfied with the work Franz did for us, and will happily recommend him to anyone.
